AI Meeting Notes Prompts
Meeting notes are only useful if they capture decisions, action items, and context. These prompts transform raw notes or transcripts into documents that drive follow-through.
1. Transcript to Action Items
Best: ClaudeExtract action items from this meeting transcript: [paste transcript]. For each action item: what needs to be done (specific and actionable), who is responsible (name from transcript), deadline (stated or implied), dependencies or blockers, and priority (based on discussion emphasis). Group by owner. Flag any action items that were discussed but not clearly assigned.
Paste the full transcript. Claude identifies implicit commitments that aren't explicitly stated as action items.
2. Meeting Summary for Absentees
Best: ClaudeSummarize this meeting for people who weren't there: [paste notes or transcript]. Include: meeting purpose and attendees, the 3 most important things discussed, decisions made (and the reasoning), action items with owners, open questions that still need answers, and what they need to know for the next meeting. Keep it under 300 words.
Include who attended and the meeting purpose. Claude prioritizes what an absentee actually needs to know.
3. Decision Log Extractor
Best: ClaudeFrom this meeting [paste notes/transcript], extract all decisions. For each decision: what was decided, who made the call, what alternatives were considered and rejected, the reasoning behind the choice, any conditions or caveats, and when it will be revisited. Format as a decision log table. Flag any "decisions" that seem like they weren't actually finalized.
Decision logs prevent re-litigating settled issues. Claude distinguishes firm decisions from tentative agreements.
4. Weekly Team Standup Notes
Best: ChatGPTFormat these standup notes into a team status update: [paste raw notes from each person]. For each team member: what they completed, what they're working on, blockers. Then add a team summary: overall velocity assessment, cross-team dependencies, and items that need manager attention. Highlight anything overdue or repeatedly blocked.

5. 1-on-1 Meeting Prep
