Flashcard Prompts
Flashcards leverage active recall and spaced repetition—the most effective study techniques. These prompts help you create cards that stick.
1. Basic Flashcard Set
Best: ClaudeCreate [X] flashcards for [topic]. Each card should have: a clear question (front) and a concise answer (back). Focus on one concept per card. Include the most important terms and concepts to know.
One fact per card. Multi-fact cards are harder to remember.
2. Cloze Deletion Cards
Best: ClaudeCreate cloze deletion flashcards for [topic]. Take key sentences and blank out the crucial term. Format: "The {{c1::term}} is defined as..." Good for definitions and processes.
Cloze deletions maintain context while testing recall. Great for definitions.
3. Image Occlusion Style
Best: ClaudeCreate flashcards for [diagram/process] by describing what to occlude. For each card: what part is hidden, what's visible for context, and the answer. I'll create the actual image occlusion cards from this.
Image occlusion works for diagrams, maps, and anatomy. Describe parts clearly.
4. Application Cards
Best: ClaudeCreate flashcards that test application of [concepts], not just recall. Front: a scenario or problem. Back: how to apply the concept to solve it. These test deeper understanding.
Application cards prevent "I know the definition but can't use it" syndrome.
5. Anki-Optimized Deck
Best: ClaudeCreate an Anki-compatible flashcard deck for [topic]. Use this format for each card: Front: [question], Back: [answer], Tags: [relevant tags]. Include 20 cards covering all key concepts.
Tags help organize reviews. Use consistent tagging from the start.
6. Interleaved Practice Cards
Best: ClaudeCreate a mixed flashcard set covering [multiple related topics]. Interleave questions so I can't predict what's coming. This improves long-term retention by making my brain work harder to retrieve.
Interleaving feels harder but works better. Mix topics in your practice.
